Description

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) gets its name because the tumour cells test negative for three things: estrogen receptors, progesterone receptors and the HER2 protein. As a result, hormone therapy and HER2-targeted medicines do not help, and doctors rely mainly on chemotherapy and newer targeted treatments. For adults whose TNBC has spread and who have already had two or more lines of treatment, one option oncologists may discuss is Trodelvy (sacituzumab govitecan), an antibody-drug conjugate developed by Gilead Sciences. It is approved in the US and Europe for this situation, and also for some HR-positive, HER2-negative breast cancers. If the treating oncologist prescribes it, Named Patient Program (NPP) can help arrange a legal named patient import.
